Opinions & Ideas
Currently in San Francisco, CA.
I grew up in the heart of the city and left to go to college at UCLA when I was 18. I haven't really been back since, just a few times a year to visit family and friends when I can. For the most part, I would say I've become a full fledged Angelino (and proud of it). This week I went back home to spend Chinese New Year with my family as well as for a refresher to catch up on my work and to find inspiration. It's funny because I had planned on San Francisco being a refuge for my mind, but just by simply being in the city, my mind is stimulated every day. I can't get over how much the city has evolved in the past 7 years since I've left. The San Francisco I used to know had only one walkable street in the Mission (and you couldn't wear blue or red) and this was way before going green and gentrification was a thing. Coffee shops here now are crammed with people on their laptops and there's always a conversation not far away about incubators and seed 1 funding for a startup. It's both exciting and exhausted being in a city that's filled with so many thinkers.
Ping Ping Ping Ping Ping, is the sound of my the thoughts in my head bouncing back and forth.
I'm currently reading Ideas & Opinions by Albert Einstein. The book is a collection of his writings ranging from ideas and opinions on different topics like government, science, art and purpose. I really recommend it because why not learn to think from one of the most highly regarded thinkers in human history? I think reading to stimulate thought is a good practice to have because thoughts can either be destructive or constructive, and I choose to promote the latter.
Not sure if you guys have noticed, but my website layout has changed again. And I'm certain that it will change again. I'm still exploring where I stand between artistry and commerciality, which both which I believe uses a different visual language (however subtle). Not to mention, part of me just desperately wants to break the grid of traditional blog formatting for expression's sake. I hope it hasn't been too confusing for you guys, but in all honesty I'm exciting that this space will keep changing. I look forward to running with my ideas and molding and refining it until the final product is produced, whenever that may be.
So welcome, and enjoy.
Wishing you all a happy Thursday, and if you haven't caught up on the latest Q&A post, make sure you check it out!
